What is legal online in Ontario

April 4, 2022 is the date Ontario's regulated market for online gambling opened. Responsibility rests with two separate bodies. The first, iGaming Ontario, both manages the market and conducts it. Regulation falls to a second body, the province's Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

The legal age is 19, for online gambling and for casinos alike. On Scugog Island, entry to Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel calls for a valid, original government-issued photo ID and a secondary photo ID. The operator's code of conduct is blunt about it: We ID under 30. On a regulated site, the line stays at 19.

At igamingontario.ca, iGaming Ontario publishes the list naming every regulated site for online gambling. Checking a site means finding its name on that list. Whatever a site says about itself, if its name is absent from that list, it falls outside Ontario's regulated market.

OLG.ca is part of the regulated market too. The province's own agency, known as the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, operates it as its online site. The same corporation has managed and conducted Great Blue Heron on Scugog Island since 2016. In this guide, the casino is one stop of a day in Port Perry.

BetGuard, at betguard.ca, has been run by iGaming Ontario since May 14, 2026. It lets a person exclude themselves from all regulated Ontario gambling sites, OLG.ca included. A person can pick a custom term, or else 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. BetGuard does not cover land-based casinos.

Such players can use OLG's My PlayBreak to bar themselves from Ontario casinos: 3 months or 6 months, or 1 to 5 years. A request can be made with staff on site, at a PlaySmart Centre, or by calling 1-800-387-0098, the OLG Support Centre. Once set, the term cannot end early. Help from ConnexOntario is free, confidential and available 24/7: call 1-866-531-2600, chat at connexontario.ca, or text CONNEX to 247247.

Rather than a casino, the site is an independent guide: no wagers are accepted here, and no accounts exist. Ad labels mark the paid links, which the site places solely on its home page. Of the three, the menu carries one, the area straight beneath the first screen has a second, and the page's lower end holds a third. Every one of them leads readers to one partner with an online casino, which may be replaced and pays commission to this site. This page carries no paid link.
